From crimeware to hacktivism, cyber-attacks continue to evolve at an alarming pace affecting businesses of all sizes. A study has shown that attacks against SMEs have increased by 10% in the past year, costing up to 6% of their turnover.

Setting up a strong information security management system, using ISO/IEC 27001, can help organizations to protect themselves. Since the latest edition has just been published, we would like to give you the chance to ask us any questions you may have: from where to get started if you have never used the standard, to what's new in the 2013 edition.

Please send us your questions before the event using the hashtag #ISOIEC27001GH We will answer as many questions as we can during the 30 minute Hangout on 5 December.

What is a Google Hangout?

A Google Hangout is like a video chat/panel that is broadcasted live. Anyone can follow the event live online, or watch the YouTube video afterwards.

How do I watch the Hangout?

A link to the Hangout will be posted on the event page (link below) just before the event starts:

Do I need a Google+ account to watch it?

No, you can watch the event live on youtube by clicking on the broadcast link on the event page. Having a G+ account will help make the experience more interactive, but it’s not necessary.

How can I ask a question?

Send us your questions via Twitter using the hashtag #ISOIEC27001GH – the sooner the better. You can also post your questions on the G+ event page.

Can I ask questions during the Hangout?

We will monitor Twitter and the G+ page during the event so you can still ask questions, but those submitted earlier will have priority due to time constraints (the event lasts only 30 minutes).

Who are the experts answering your questions?

Prof. Edward Humphreys has been working in information security and risk management for over 39 years. He is convenor of the ISO/IEC working group that developed ISO/IEC 27001, and is often quoted as the “father of the ISO/IEC 27001 family of information security management systems standards”.

Dr. Angelika Plate has worked with information security for over 15 years, including risk assessment and management, policies, procedures and solutions. Since 1994, she has been part of the joint ISO/IEC committee developing information security management systems standards.

Rob Norwell will share his experience as a user of ISO/IEC 27001. He has been involved with its implementation at Strålfors Group, where he is now Sustainable Business Development Manager.
